The works of Gender Gesture series are painted as individual paintings, in diptychs and in triptychs. The language of spontaneous gesture - male or female - is explored for its sociological implications; what do we considered a "private" gesture and what constitutes a "public" gesture? The works' acidic colours, hard light, extreme angles and cropping, comment on the complicity of photography and film in our increasingly codified way of seeing the world.
